A spooky-season dinner that goes from skillet to table in under 30 minutes.

Some nights call for a complicated dinner.

And some nights call for throwing hamburger, pasta, cheese, and a few pantry staples into one skillet and calling it a win.

This Witch’s Cauldron Hamburger Skillet is definitely in the second category. 🧙‍♀️🍲

It’s hearty, cheesy, comforting, and best of all—dinner is ready in less than 30 minutes and there’s only one skillet to wash. That's my kind of magic.

🕷️ What You'll Need

  • 1 pound ground beef

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 cups dry pasta

  • 1 can diced tomatoes

  • 2 cups beef broth

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1 tablespoon ketchup

  • 1 teaspoon mustard

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce or Coconut Aminos

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the pasta, I like using Pastabilities because it holds up beautifully in a hearty skillet dinner. 🍝

🧙‍♀️ How to Make It

1. Brown the beef

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and onion and cook until the beef is browned and the onion is tender. Drain excess grease if needed.

2. Add the flavor

Stir in the garlic, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.

3. Let the cauldron bubble

Add the diced tomatoes, beef broth, and dry pasta. Stir everything together and bring it to a gentle boil.

Reduce the heat, cover, and simmer for about 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender. If things look a little dry before the pasta is finished, add a splash more broth or water.

4. Make it cheesy

Stir in the shredded cheddar until melted and creamy.

Then stand back and admire your work.

You've just made dinner magic. ✨

🍂 Serve It Up

I like serving this with a simple green salad, roasted vegetables, or a loaf of crusty bread.

And if you're feeling particularly festive, put the skillet right in the middle of the table and call it your witch's cauldron. Nobody needs to know dinner took less than 30 minutes.

The Rooted in Reality verdict

One skillet. Less than 30 minutes. Comfort food. Minimal dishes.

Honestly, I'm not sure what kind of witchcraft could beat that on a busy fall night. 🎃
