Cozy Soup Nights Made Easier: My Favorite Soup Collection and the Kitchen Chopper I Use on Repeat

4 min read

There is something about a pot of soup simmering on the stove that makes a house feel like home. Add a chilly fall evening, a comfortable pair of socks, and a bowl of something warm, and I’m pretty happy.

But let’s be honest. Before that delicious soup makes it to the table, there are onions to chop, carrots to slice, celery to prepare, and a kitchen counter that somehow gets covered in ingredients before you even turn on the stove.

That’s why I’m all about finding little ways to make cooking easier without sacrificing the homemade meals we love.

Today, I’m sharing two of my favorite things for cozy soup season: my Rooted in Reality Cozy Soup Kitchen Collection and a kitchen chopper that has become my go-to helper.

Bring on the Cozy Soup Nights!

If you’ve been following Rooted in Reality, you know I love recipes that are comforting, practical, and made for real life. I’m not trying to turn Tuesday night dinner into a five-hour culinary adventure. I want good food, manageable prep, and enough time left over to enjoy the evening.

That’s exactly why I put together the Cozy Soup Kitchen Collection.

This printable collection brings together five comforting soup recipes along with four helpful kitchen planning and organization documents. It’s designed to help make soup night a little less chaotic and a lot more enjoyable.

Inside, you’ll find comforting favorites such as:

  • Hearty Potato and Sausage Soup

  • Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup

  • Creamy Broccoli Cheddar Soup

  • Easy Cabbage Roll Soup

  • Another cozy soup recipe to round out the collection

You’ll also get helpful extras to make planning, shopping, and keeping track of your kitchen a little easier.

Because around here, we believe in good food and practical solutions. We do not believe dinner needs to be complicated to be delicious.

My Go-To Kitchen Chopper: A Little Tool That Makes a Big Difference

Now, let me tell you about a kitchen tool I absolutely love.

You know those kitchen gadgets that look promising when you buy them, get used twice, and then disappear into the back of a cabinet? We’ve all been there.

This chopper is different for me. It’s my go-to.

When I’m making a pot of potato and sausage soup, preparing vegetables for a hearty broth-based soup, or getting ingredients ready for a skillet dinner, having a chopper handy makes food prep feel much less like a chore.

I love being able to get those vegetables ready and move on with the recipe instead of spending what feels like forever chopping everything by hand.

And when I’m making soup, there can be quite a bit to prepare. Onions, carrots, celery, and other vegetables are often the beginning of a really good pot of comfort food.

Anything that helps simplify that step earns a spot in my kitchen.

Want to See the Chopper I Use?

This is the one I reach for when I’m getting ready to cook. I’m sharing it because I genuinely enjoy using it, not because I think everyone needs another gadget cluttering up their kitchen.

If you enjoy making homemade soups, sauces, skillet meals, or other recipes that call for chopped ingredients, it may be worth a look.

Make Soup Night Easier With a Little Planning

One thing I’ve learned is that getting dinner on the table isn't always about finding another recipe. Sometimes, it's about having a plan.

Here are three simple things I like to do when soup is on the menu.

1. Check the pantry before heading to the store.

Take a quick look at your broth, canned tomatoes, beans, pasta, rice, and other pantry staples. You may already have more ingredients than you realize.

2. Prep your vegetables before you start cooking.

Get your ingredients ready first. That way, you're not scrambling to chop an onion while something else is already bubbling away on the stove.

3. Make enough for leftovers.

Soup is one of those meals that can be just as useful the next day. Store leftovers safely in the refrigerator, or freeze portions when appropriate for an easy future meal.

A little planning can turn a busy evening into a much more manageable one.

A Little Comfort From My Kitchen to Yours

At Rooted in Reality, I’m all about finding ways to make everyday life work a little better. Sometimes that means growing vegetables in the garden. Sometimes it means organizing a pantry. And sometimes it means making a big pot of soup and finding a kitchen tool that makes the chopping easier.

You don't need a perfect kitchen, an elaborate meal plan, or a counter full of fancy gadgets to make a wonderful homemade dinner.

You just need a few good recipes, some practical helpers, and a willingness to keep things simple.

If cozy soup nights are calling your name, I hope you'll take a look at my Rooted in Reality Cozy Soup Kitchen Collection and check out the chopper I love using in my own kitchen.

Here's to full bowls, less kitchen fuss, and a little more time to enjoy the good stuff.

Happy cooking,

Rooted in Reality
